What happened to George Jung money?

George Jacob Jung was a drug trafficker and smuggler from the United States who was a prominent figure in the cocaine trade in the 1970s and early 1980s. Jung and his colleague Carlos Lehder trafficked cocaine into the United States for the Medellin Cartel in Colombia.

Jung was arrested in Topeka, Kansas in 1994 with 1,754 pounds (796 kg) of cocaine. Later, he pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy and was sentenced to 70 years in prison; his sentence was reduced to nearly 20 years after he testified against his ex-partner Carlos Lehder.

Jung was first imprisoned at Otisville Federal Prison (Medium Security) in Mount Hope, New York, before being transferred to Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix (Low Security) in New Jersey, and then to Federal Correctional Institution, La Tuna (Low Security) in Anthony, Texas.

Jung died on May 5, 2021, at his home in Weymouth, Massachusetts, after suffering from liver and kidney failure and receiving hospice care.
