Golden Globe award-winning actor, Edward James Olmos has recently opened up about a health-related issue he had been battling severely since December 2022.

In a recent interview, he shared that numerous doctors had to operate on him and give him tons of instructions to follow.

“There were times in the months that I was undergoing the treatments that the body gives up. And I didn’t want to take my food through my stomach. They wanted to put tubes in and feed me nutrients because I couldn’t swallow. They had to get 2,500 calories into my body every day. That was ridiculous. That was so hard,” he said.

Olmos is the first American-born Hispanic to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, which was a result of his role as Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver. From 1989 to 2000, he was featured in several movies including The Fortunate Pilgrim, Triumph of the Spirit, Talent for the Game, American Me, Roosters, Even Cowgirls Get Blues, A Million Juan, Mirage, My Family, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, The Road to El Dorado, Gossip, and more.
