Doug Ibold, the esteemed editor renowned for his work on iconic television series such as “Law & Order,” “Magnum, P.I.,” and “Miami Vice,” passed away on November 8 following a courageous battle with cancer, as announced by his family. He was 83.

Ibold played a pivotal role in shaping the success of Dick Wolf’s groundbreaking “Law & Order” franchise. He edited the 1990 pilot for the original series and the 1999 pilot for “Law & Order: SVU,” contributing to numerous “SVU” episodes until 2005. Prior to his involvement with “Law & Order,” Ibold collaborated with Dick Wolf on the popular series “Miami Vice” from 1985 to 1987.

His extensive contributions extended to the first six seasons of the beloved original “Magnum, P.I.” series, spanning from 1980 to 1985. Additionally, Ibold worked on various Donald P. Bellisario productions, showcasing his editing prowess on series such as “Quincy M.E.,” “Quantum Leap,” “Tequila and Bonetti,” and the 1995 pilot for the compelling drama series “Crowfoot.” His diverse TV credits also include work on “B.L. Stryker,” “Texas Ranger,” “Walker,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” and “Tour of Duty.”
