McConnachie’s demise occurred on Friday in Venice, Florida, succumbing to complications related to Parkinson’s disease. The announcement of his death came from The American Bystander, a humor publication co-founded, edited, and published by McConnachie in collaboration with Michael Gerber.

Born as Brian J. McConnachie on December 23, 1942, the creative mind spent his formative years in Garrison, New York. In the 1970s, McConnachie played a pivotal role as one of the primary writers for the humor-focused magazine “National Lampoon.” Although he departed after a four-year stint, he later played a crucial part in the magazine’s revival in 2015.

Transitioning from print to television writing, McConnachie made his mark as a writer for the sketch comedy series “Saturday Night Live,” earning an Emmy nomination for his efforts. His Emmy victory came in 1982 when he won as a writer for the Canadian comedy program “Second City Television,” better known by its abbreviated title “SCTV.” During his time there, he was affectionately dubbed “The Clark Kent of Comedy” by fellow comedian Dave Thomas.
