Blackie Onassis was reported dead by his band Urge Overkill on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. No cause of death was announced; his age is also not known yet.

“Urge Overkill is saddened to report that Black has passed away. Please respect our privacy at this time. We are sending much love to his family and all his fans, We know he will be missed,” Urge Overkill’s official Twitter page shared.

He played an integral part in the group’s ’90s albums; The Supersonic (1991), Saturation (1993), and Exit the Dragon (1995). Two of these albums debuted on the Billboard 200, while Sister Havana off the Saturation album reached the Top 10 of the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock tallies.
“Sorry to hear about the death of Blackie Onassis. Sounds like he didn’t have a particularly easy time over the years. I love UO, a band that has no bad albums. Rest well, John Rowan,” a fan wrote in a tribute post.
