Sam Workman, the caddie for Steven Alker of the PGA Tour Champions, went unexpectedly on Monday at his Beeville, Texas, home. According to Alker’s Instagram post, he passed away unexpectedly and suddenly from cancer.

To begin the 2023 season, Workman had just finished caddying for Alker during a second-place finish in Hawaii.

Workman’s close friend and fellow caddy John Rathouz expressed his feelings on the tragedy. Rathouz described Workman as a “wonderful caddy, great man, and great friend,” expressing his profound sorrow over his passing.

He also recalled their days together on the course and how everyone around Workman was inspired by his upbeat demeanor and love of the sport.
