Marlyne Barrett is a well-known Haitian-American actress. She was born in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in Montreal with her Haitian-American parents, sisters, and brother.

She began her career on stage and television before co-starring with Hill Harper in the 2003 romantic comedy Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones. In the late 1990s, she worked as a VJ for Montreal, Canada’s TV station Musique Plus.

Later in the 2000s, Barrett appeared as a guest star on a number of New York City-set dramas, including the NBC police procedural drama Law & Order and its spin-offs Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and the short-lived NBC legal drama Conviction.
Marlyne also appeared in Hannah Marks and Joey Power’s independent film After Everything which was in competition at SXSW and recently was released in theatres.
Barrett also executive produced and starred in the Oscar-nominated short film Night Call, for which she received several Best Actress nominations.
