Catherine Zeta-Jones CBE is a Welsh actress. She was born on September 25, 1969, in Swansea, Wales, to David Jones, the owner of a candy factory, and Patricia a seamstress.

Her father is Welsh, and her mother is of Welsh, English, and Irish ancestry. Zeta-Jones grew up in the Mumbles suburbs. Because Zeta-Jones was a hyperactive child, her mother enrolled her in the Hazel Johnson School of Dance.

Her film debut was in the unsuccessful French-Italian film 1001 Nights (1990), but she found greater success as a regular in the British television series The Darling Buds of May. (1991–1993).

Zeta-Jones received critical acclaim for her roles in Traffic (2000) and Chicago (2002).
