The Mongolian death worm is a creature alleged to exist in the Gobi Desert. The creature first came to Western attention as a result of Roy Chapman Andrew’s 1926 book On the Trail of Ancient Man.

The American palaeontologist described second-hand tales of the monster that he heard at a gathering of Mongolian officials: None of those present ever had seen the creature, but they all minutely.

In 1983, a specimen of Tartar sand bias was shown to locals who claimed to have seen olgoi-khorkhoi and they confirmed that this was the same animal.

What does the Mongolian death worm do?

Mongolian nomads have made extraordinary claims about the animal, reporting that the death worm can spit corrosive yellow saliva that acts like acid and that they can generate blasts of electricity powerful enough to kill a full-grown camel.

What does the Mongolian death worm eat?

The Mongolian Death Worm preys on camels. It will leave eggs inside of the animal’s intestines, which will eventually turn the same shade of red as the creature.
