Ledisi is an American R&B and jazz recording artist, songwriter, music producer, author and actress. Ledisi was raised in Oakland, California.

Ledisi started performing publicly at age eight with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra and later studied opera and piano at the University of California Berkeley.

In 2008, Ledisi released a Christmas album called It’s Christmas. In 2002, Ledisi also re-released her first album, Soulsinger, as Soulsinger: The Revival on Tommy Boy Records.

Ledisi released her second album, Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue, in 2002. The album included the singles “Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue” and “Autumn Leaves” and won the award for “Outstanding Jazz Album” at the California Music Awards in 2003.

Ledisi has guest starred as Patti LaBelle in the BET docudrama American Soul, made a cameo appearance as a choir member in the FX drama Pose, and will co-star as Gladys Knight in the upcoming film Spinning Gold.
