Dua Lipa means Love in Albanian, its typical nature was cause for distaste for her youth, but she grew up to enjoy it as it eliminated the need for a stage name.

Her ancestry can also be traced back to the city of Peja, Kosovo. Both of her grandfathers were historians.
Lipa started her career at 14 by posting cover songs on YouTube for her favourite artists such as Pink and Nelly Furtado. She was inspired by the fact that Justin Bieber’s discovery and fame were attributed to YouTube, and she aspired to do the same.

After working as a model, she signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2014 and released her eponymous debut album in 2017. The album peaked at number three on the UK Albums chart and yielded eight singles, including Be the One, IDGAF, and the UK number one single, New Rules.
Her 2018 single, On Kiss, peaked at number one in the UK and became the year’s longest-running number one single by a female artist, winning the 2019 Brit Award for the Year.
