R Kelly has repeatedly faced allegations of sexual abuse that have resulted in multiple civil suits and criminal trials.

In December 2000, the Chicago Sun-Tomes first reported that police had made two investigations that Kelly was having sex with an underage female but had to drop the investigations due to lack of cooperation by the girls accusing him.

R Kelly was found guilty of charges including sexual exploitation of a child, racketeering, bribery, and sex trafficking. The jury found the government proved Kelly was at the head of a criminal conspiracy to recruit and coerce girls, boys and women into sex.

Before the judge announced Kelly’s sentence, seven women made their statements to and about him and the abuse they suffered, At no point did Kelly look at his accusers.
