What Did Paul Arriola Say After Being Left Out Of 2022 World Cup USMNT Squad?

Following his omission from the 2022 Qatar World Cup roaster, Paul Arriola said he was heartbroken, even though his team mates have got his full support.

He took to social media to express his deepest thoughts:

“The past few days have been extremely difficult. Some of the hardest I’ve had in a while. I am heartbroken not to be included on the final World Cup roster. This year my goal was to put myself in the best position possible to get to this point and I believe I did, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough”, he wrote

“Being around the national team for years, you learn that it is such a privilege to represent your country and I know I have never taken it for granted. The one thing I know for sure is that I will be rooting for my teammates when they play and I hope our country comes together to support this amazing group Thank you to all who have reached out to me and sent their support. GO USA”, he added.

Who Is Paul Arriola?

Paul Arriola is a professional soccer player who plays for FC Dallas and the United States national team as a winger.

He was born on February 5, 1995 and raised in Chula Vista, California.

Arriola was schooled at Mater Dei Catholic High School in Chula Vista and later attended iHigh Virtual Academy in San Diego.

All through his junior and senior career, Arriola played for IMG Soccer Academy, Arsenal FC, LA Galaxy, Tijuana, D.C. United, Swansea City and now, FC Dallas.

During his first game for the senior team against Puerto Rico in 2016, Arriola scored his first goal for the United States.

In the opening match of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup against Guyana at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he scored his fourth goal for the United States.

He scored a header in the USMNT’s 5-1 victory over Panama in their penultimate game of the 2021–22 Concacaf World Cup qualifying, and secured their place in Qatar.
