Loretta Lynn was an American singer-songwriter who died at the age of 90 on October 4 at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, according to her family. Her cause of death was not given.

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” the family said in a statement. They asked for privacy.

Lynn is survived by four children Clara, Ernest, and twins Peggy Jean and Patsy Eileen.

Loretta Lynn released several gold albums during his six-decade career in country music. She received numerous awards and other honours for her pioneering role in country music.

She was nominated for 18 GRAMMY Awards and won three of them. Lynn is the most decorated female country recording artist of all time, as well as the only female ACM Artist of the Decade (the 1970s).
