Joss Whedon is best known as the creator of several series including: the supernatural drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) and its spinoff Angel (1999–2004), the space Western Firefly (2002), the musical miniseries Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (2008), the science fiction drama Dollhouse (2009–2010), the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013–2020), and the science fiction drama The Nevers (2021).

Joss Whedon also co-wrote the DC Extended Universe superhero film Justice League (2017), for which he also served as director for re-shoots.

Actors Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Charisma Carpenter, Michelle Trachtenberg and Amber Benson have complained publicly about Whedon’s abusive behavior towards them or others on set, which led to an investigation by WarnerMedia.

James Marsters, who played the fan-favorite villain turned hero vampire Spike, said that Joss Whedon once backed him into a wall, disparaging him for his character’s unforeseen popularity in the series.

Michelle Trachtenberg gave a “last” comment about her experience on the “Buffy the Vampire” set with its creator Joss Whedon.

Michelle Trachtenberg (who played Dawn Summers on the show) claimed that there was a rule on set that Joss Whedon was not allowed to be in a room alone with her.
