However, like many high-profile individuals, he has also been the subject of various accusations and controversies over the course of his career.

In 1997, Murphy was accused of striking a transvestite prostitute, Atisone Seiuli, with his car in West Hollywood.

The transvestite filed a lawsuit against Murphy, alleging that he had hit him with his car and then used racial and homophobic slurs. Murphy denied the accusations and the lawsuit was later dropped.

In 2019, he was also accused of being a part of a group of celebrities and businessmen that participated in a college admissions bribery scheme.

The scheme, known as “Operation Varsity Blues,” involved parents paying large sums of money to secure their children’s admission to prestigious universities. Murphy was not charged in the case, and it is not clear if he had any direct involvement in the scheme.

In 2020, Eddie Murphy was also accused of being a part of the Hollywood casting couch culture, with several women coming forward and claiming that they were sexually harassed by Murphy while they were trying to get a role in his movies. Eddie Murphy has denied these allegations
