Former United States President, E. Jean Carroll has been found guilty of sexually assaulting American columnist and author, E. Jean Carroll over twenty years ago.

Trump is now legally branded as a sexual predator, however, his case is termed civil not criminal, therefore, he will only face financial sanctions and punishment.
A New York jury shared on Tuesday (May 9, 2023) that “Trump subjected Carroll to sexual contact without consent by the use of force and that it was for the purpose of sexual gratification.”

The former head of state was not found guilty of rape but liable for sexual abuse. He has been asked to be $5 million in compensative and punitive damages.
The payment is such that $2 million is for the sexual abuse count while $3 million is for branding her a liar, that is, defamation. Carroll expressed happiness after the judgment stating that she is very happy to have received justice after a very long time.

According to Carroll, she met Trump as she was leaving the Bergdorf Goodman department store one evening in 1996. A conversation ensued between them. where Trump asked for her help to buy a gift.
Upon acceptance, Trump reportedly chose to buy a lingerie, which she was asked by him to put it on.
“I had no intention of putting it on. ‘You put it on, it’s your color,” she claimed Trump insisted.
Carroll added that Trump led her to the changing room and insisted they both try it on.
“He immediately shut the door and shoved me up against the wall. He shoved me so hard my head banged. I was extremely confused. He leaned down and pulled down my thighs. I was pushing him back. It was quite clear I didn’t want anything else to happen,” she added.
She concluded that Trump raped her. She shared that she confided in two friends but couldn’t come out publicly because of the numerous questions she would’ve been asked.
Carroll was encouraged by a conservative lawyer, George Conway to sue Trump even several years after the incident.
“God bless E. Jean Carroll and congratulations to Roberta Kaplan (Carroll’s attorney) and her team for a job well done,” Conway tweeted after the case was concluded.
