William Henry Gates III was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, the United States to parents Bill Gates Sr and Mary Maxwell Gates. His father was a lawyer, while his mother served on the board of directors for First Interstate BancSystem as well as the United Way of America.

Bill Gates has an older sister Kristi (Kristianne) as well as a younger sister Libby. He enrolled in the private Lakeside prep school which he attended from 1967 to 1973. He later enrolled at Harvard College in the autumn of 1973, however, he left Harvard after two years.

Bill Gates and Allen founded Microsoft in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1975. The company went on to become the world’s largest personal computer software company. Bill Gates later the company stepped down as CEO in January 2000. He has been included in the Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest people since 1987.

From 1995 to 2017, Bill Gates has held the Forbes title of the richest person in the world every year except from 2010 to 2013. He is the father of Jennifer Katharine Gates, Phoebe Adele Gates, and Rory John Gates.

Bill Gates was arrested for speeding when he was 19 on the night of December 13, 1977, and the Albuquerque police booked him into jail. He was picked up for driving without a license and failing to stop at a stop sign.
