What did Anthony Rapp accused Kevin Spacey of?

In a late October 2017 interview with BuzzFeed, Rapp claimed that actor Kevin Spacey made an unwanted sexual advance toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26.

Rapp and Spacey were both in Broadway show at the time – Rapp in Precious Sons, Spacey in Long Day’s Journey into Night and Spacey invited Rapp to a party at his home.

According to Rapp, at the end of the night, a drunk Spacey “picked him up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold,” placed him on the bed, and tightened his grip on him. “He was attempting to seduce me,” Rapp explained. “I’m not sure I would have used that language.”

But I was aware that he was attempting to have a sexual relationship with me.” Rapp also claimed to have met with a lawyer to discuss legal action but was told there was no case worth pursuing.

Anthony Rapp had previously discussed the incident with The Advocate in 2001, but his name was redacted from publication to avoid legal wrangling and public outing.

With the support of his family, boyfriend, and representatives, Rapp was inspired to come forward in 2017 following the effects of the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations.
