What Did Amber McLaughlin Do?

Amber McLaughlin, the first openly transgender woman was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Beverly Guenther, and a judge sentenced her to death after the jury couldn’t agree on a sentence.

Amber McLaughlin was in a relationship with Beverly Guenther prior to her transition. Beverly Guenther and McLaughlin’s relationship deteriorated into abuse.

Amber McLaughlin stalked and harassed Guenther and burglarized her home in October 2003 when she tried to end it.

McLaughlin kidnapped Guenther outside her workplace on November 20, 2003. McLaughlin raped and stabbed her to death before abandoning her lifeless body near the Mississippi River in the Patch neighbourhood of south St. Louis.

On the night of November 20, 2003, officers discovered a broken knife handle near Guenther’s car and a trail of blood at her office building after her neighbours reported that she had not returned home.

Amber McLaughlin later led police to Guenther’s body, which had been dumped near the Mississippi River in St. Louis.

Amber McLaughlin was executed in the United States on Tuesday, January 3 2023 night.
