Mackenzie Dern is an ADCC and no-gi BJJ (black belt) World Champion. She is a former world No. 1 ranked IBJJF competitor and is currently ranked 6th among the female divisions.

Mackenzie Dern was born on March 24, 1993, in Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America. Mackenzie Dern began training by the age of three and practicing with her father and stepmother, who is also a black belt, Luciana Tavares.

Mackenzie Dern grew up traveling back and forth between Arizona and her father’s native Brazil. Dern is fluent in English and Portuguese. Mackenzie Dern has won 12 World titles, from 2007 through 2012 – 7 medals at the Worlds with Gi and 5 medals at the Worlds No Gi, all before reaching black belt level.

Mackenzie Dern made her professional MMA debut in 2016 and has since amassed a record of 13 wins and 4 losses. She is currently ranked #7 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings as of September 19, 2023. Her fighting style is characterized by her grappling skills.
