Dalilah Muhammad has been a very active athlete since high school. She took part in high school events at the Benjamin N. Cardozo High School. These events included hurdles, sprints, and high jump. She won a gold medal at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics. She was also awarded the 2007 Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year for New York State. She also won the 2008 New York and Nike Outdoor National titles 2008  in the 400 hurdles.

She competed extremely exceptionally after joining her school’s athletes team in her first season. She set the record of 13.79 seconds as a finalist in the 100-meters hurdles and ended up as the runner-up in the 400 m hurdles and fourth in the 4×400-meter relay.
