Australian sailor, Jessica Watson is considered one of the most adventurous sailors in the world, even though she does not consider herself so. She took her yacht to sail more than 19,000 nautical miles around the world. She has taken on several challenges and has been named as one of the 50 greatest explorers in Australian history, named alongside Burke and Wills and Kingsford Smith.

She once shared that, growing up and having a passion for sailing, it was very tough to break it to her parents because she feared they wouldn’t allow her.

“Even at that point, which was so early on, I was so invested in it and so obsessed with it. Mulling it over for a couple of years, it meant so much to me already at that stage so it would have very much crashed me if it had been a terrible reaction,” she said.
Watson also suffered a terrible loss when her long-term partner and lover, Cameron Dale died after suffering a catastrophic stroke.
