Contact dermatitis: This is a type of skin inflammation that occurs when the skin comes into contact with an irritant or an allergen, such as metals, cosmetics, detergents, or medications. The skin may become dry, itchy, red, and scaly.

Eczema: This is a group of chronic skin disorders that cause dry, red, bumpy and itchy patches of skin. Eczema can be triggered by environmental factors, such as allergens, irritants and stress. Severe eczema can cause cracking and bleeding of the skin.

Seborrheic dermatitis: This is a type of skin inflammation that affects the scalp, face, chest and other areas with oily glands. It causes dry, flaky and yellowish scales on the skin. It is thought to be related to a yeast that grows on the skin.

Athlete’s foot: This is a fungal infection that affects the feet, especially between the toes. It causes dry, cracked and peeling skin, along with itching and burning sensations. It can spread to other parts of the body through contact or sharing shoes or socks.

Xerosis: This is a term for severely dry skin that can affect any part of the body. It is often caused by low humidity, frequent bathing or washing, aging or certain medications. It can lead to scaling, itching and fissures (cracks) in the skin.
