Manolete, whose full name was Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez, was a prominent Spanish bullfighter.
Born on July 4, 1917, in Córdoba, Spain, Manolete’s career spanned the 1930s and 1940s, and he is till date regarded as one of the greatest bullfighters in the history of the sport.

Manolete understood the bullfighting techniques and had daring maneuvers in the bullring. He was known to be very courageous in his confrontation of the bulls.
Manolete’s career was marked by several notable achievements and rivaled other famous bullfighters including Antonio Ordóñez.
Manolete died on August 29, 1947, after he was gored in his upper right leg by a bull during a fight. He was aged 30.
There are also contrary opinions that Manolete died died after “receiving a transfusion with the wrong type of blood.”
