She lamented the absence of structures to honor and reward those who have significantly contributed to the growth and evolution of Ghana’s music scene.

Wendy Shay’s sentiments were shared during a discussion about her recent visit to the ailing K.K. Kabobo, who is currently battling liver disease.

She emphasized that if musicians like K.K. Kabobo had received the same benefits and opportunities available to today’s artists, their situations might have been different.

Reflecting on the struggles faced by legendary musicians, Wendy Shay highlighted the need for a more supportive and appreciative industry framework.

Her recent gesture of donating to K.K. Kabobo underscores her commitment to addressing these challenges and advocating for a more sustainable solution.

KK Kabobo, a revered Highlife musician with iconic hits like ‘Onyame Ahu Wo’ and ‘Nyatse Nyatse Girl,’ is currently undergoing treatment for his health condition at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.

His family has requested financial support, and some influential people, such as former President John Mahama and Second Lady Samira Bawumia, have responded favorably.
