Dr. Sowah highlighted that erosion upstream has worsened the impact of heavy rainfall, leading to frequent floods along the highway.
To combat this challenge, the assembly has engaged with stakeholders, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, to devise effective solutions.
Currently, the assembly is undertaking the construction of a storm drain at Dogo to manage water flow and mitigate the severity of floods, ultimately improving conditions for road users.
Dr. Sowah emphasized the urgency of finding solutions to the flooding issue and expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts with key stakeholders to address the challenge.

The flooding on the Kasoa-Mallam Highway has been a persistent problem, causing significant disruption to commuters and motorists. Recent heavy rains exacerbated the situation, leading to a chaotic scene with stranded vehicles and impassable road sections.
Videos captured during the flooding depicted the gridlock during rush hour, with motorists forced to navigate through flooded areas, causing further congestion and delays.
In response to the situation, military personnel intervened to manage traffic flow and ease congestion, providing assistance to commuters stranded along the highway.
While police officers were already directing traffic, the involvement of the military proved instrumental in facilitating movement and clearing blocked lanes.
The collaborative efforts between the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly and stakeholders reflect a commitment to addressing the flooding challenges on the Kasoa-Mallam Highway and ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters in the region.
