Wayne Shorter Ex-Wife: Who Is Ana Maria Shorter?

Ana Maria Shorter is the ex-wife of Wayne Shorter. They met in 1966 and they were married in 1970. In 1986, their daughter, Iska died of a grand mal seizure at 14.

While travelling to Shorter in Italy, Ana Maria and the couple’s niece, Dalila, were killed on July 17, 1996, on TWA Flight 800. Dalila was the daughter of Ana Maria Shorter’s sister and her husband, jazz vocalist Jon Lucien.

In 1999, Shorter married Carolina Dos Santos, a close friend of Ana Maria.

Shorter practised Nichiren Buddhism for over 50 years as a longtime member of the Buddhist association Soka Gakkai International.

Shorter died in Los Angeles, California on March 2, 2023, at the age of 89.
