Vincent Kompany is a Belgian professional football manager and former centre-back who is currently the manager of EFL Championship club Burnley.

Vincent Kompany most notably played for Manchester City for eleven seasons. He established himself as an integral member of the Manchester City squad and was regarded as one of the bargain buys of the transformed City era, blossoming into one of the league’s best center-backs.

In the 2011-12 season, he was appointed captain of City, and he led the club to their first Premier League title in 44 years.

Kompany was named to the Premier League Team of the Year in 2011 and 2012, as well as in 2014, and won Premier League Player of the Season in 2012. He is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in English football history.

He also served as captain of the Belgian national team for seven years. Kompany earned 89 caps for Belgium during his fifteen-year international career, making his debut in 2004 at the age of 17.

He was a member of their squad that finished fourth at the 2008 Olympics and went to the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2018, finishing third for the first time. He took over as captain in 2010.
