Rapper MoneySign Suede died Tuesday after he was stabbed in a shower at a California prison, authorities and his attorney said. In a statement, CDCR officials said the rapper was found unresponsive just before 10 p.m. after correctional officers found that he was not in his cell during a regular count. Officials said he was found “with injuries consistent with a homicide.”

Suede was sent to the Monterey County prison after being sentenced in Riverside County last December to serve two years and eight months on two charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun, according to state corrections officials.

Suede’s self-titled debut EP was released in March 2022, and soon after, he began featuring in collaborations with artists like Young Demon, Cypress Moreno, Lil Weirdo, and others.

He then released his first album, Parkside Baby, in September 2022, followed by a mixtape, Parkside Santa.

Soon after turning 18, Suede’s songs started to gain popularity.

With “Back to the Bag,” which reflected on his own experiences over laid-back piano chords and a West Coast beat, he made waves in 2020.
