Judd Hirsch is the father of Alex Hirsch, Montana Eve Hirsch and London Hirsch. He studied acting at HB Studio in New York City and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City in 1962.

Judd Hirsch rose to fame following his lead role as Alex Rieger in the popular sitcom Taxi, which ran from 1978 to 1983. Judd Hirsch starred in the CBS comedy Superior Donuts from 2017 to 2018.

In early 2020, Judd Hirsch appeared as the historic Simon Wiesenthal, in season 1 of the Amazon Prime Video show, Hunters.

Judd Hirsch was nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Ordinary People (1980) and The Fabelmans (2022).
