Gregg Allman was a well-known musician, singer, and composer who co-founded The Allman Brothers Band with his brother, which became one of America’s most popular bands in the late 1960s and early 1970s. “Midnight Rider,” “Melissa,” “Whipping Post,” “Trouble No More,” “Blue Sky,” “Ramblin’ Man,” and “Dreams” were among the best hits, he wrote and performed.

Allman was also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame for his musical achievements. His unusual voice landed him at number 70 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” list.

Allman spent much of the 1990s living in Marin County, California, with his close friends and riding his motorcycle. Searching for Simplicity, his fifth solo album was secretly released on 550 Music in 1997.

Was Gregg Allman a drinker?

Yes, he was. Gregg was engaged in a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol and promiscuous sex. Gregg said in his memoirs that he consumed at least a fifth of a litre of vodka every day. However, he quit drinking in January 1995.
