Award-winning actor Don Rickles served in the United States Navy, upon completion of his High School in 1944.

It was during the World War II, and Rickles was deployed “to the motor torpedo boat tender USS Cyrene as a seaman first class.”

He was discharged in 1946.

When did Don Rickles pass away?

Rickles passed away on April 6, 2017, after suffering from kidney failure. He was aged 90.

He was laid to rest at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery.

Who Was Don Rickles?

Don Rickles was an American stand-up comedian and actor known to deliver much of insult comedy and appearing in several films.

Born on May 8, 1926, in New York, Rickles began acting in the 1950s and later gained prominence.

Some of the films in which he starred include Run Silent, Run Deep (1958), the Clint Eastwood–led Kelly’s Heroes (1970), Casino (1995), and the NBC sitcom C.P.O. Sharkey.

Rickles also appeared on the TV show and CBS sitcom The Don Rickles Show from 1968 to 1972, The Dean Martin Show, The Tonight Show, and The Late Show.

He was also a regular face at Las Vegas hotel-casinos where he performed stand-up comedy.

The Primetime Emmy Award winner was to reprise his role in Toy Story 4 as Mr. Potato Head before his death.
