In 1993, Chung became the first woman to co-anchor a major network newscast when she joined CBS Evening News.

Chung has won numerous awards for her work in journalism. She’s won three Emmys, including two for Best Interview/Interviewer. She has also received a George Foster Peabody Award, awards from American Women in Radio and Television, the Outstanding Young Woman of America, and an Amnesty International Award.
