Wale, who now believes Nigerian parents are the toughest, shared that when he began his career as a rapper and got signed by record label, Interscope, in 2008, which is said to have been a $1.3 million deal, his parent, however, were not impressed.

He said a week after signing to the label, his parents asked him to go get a job as they didn’t regard his music career as a job.

Wale shared this in a tweet he made today and many of his Nigerian fans have since related to his story.

Though the 36 years old rapper was born and raised in America, it seems his Yoruba parents never stopped being Africans, and raised him with the African parent mindset – they used to regard only doctors, engineers, pilots, and other professional jobs as a career.
