Kartel is a Jamaican dancehall artist, songwriter, and music producer. He is the son of Norris Palmer and Teresa Palmer.

He was one of six children born at Kingston’s Victoria Jubilee Hospital, where his mother and stepfather raised him. He was born in Waterhouse, Kingston, but grew up in Portmore’s Waterford neighbourhood, where he attended St. Patrick’s School.
Vybz Kartel is one of the most prominent and influential figures in the dancehall music genre. He gained popularity in the early 2000s with his distinctive musical style, provocative lyrics, and energetic performances.
