Vivan Sundaram Cause Of Death

The cause of Vivan Sundaram’s death is intracerebral hemorrhage. On 29 March 2023,  Sundaram passed away following complications of an intracerebral hemorrhage in New Delhi at 79.

Vivan Sundaram was an Indian pioneering multidisciplinary contemporary artist. Vivan Sundaram was married to art historian and critic Geeta Kapur.

Vivan Sundaram’s works have been exhibited in the Biennials of Kochi (2012), Sydney (2008), Seville (2006), Taipei (2006), Sharjah (2005), Shanghai (2004), Havana (1997), Johannesburg (1997), and Kwangju (1997).

Vivan Sundaram was active in the students’ movement of May 1968 and helped set up a commune in London where he lived till 1970.

In 2016, Vivan Sundaram set up the Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation (SSAF) alongside his sister, the filmmaker, and television journalist Navina Sundaram. He was the managing trustee there.

In 1981, Vivan Sundaram participated in the seminal group exhibition, “Place for People”. Vivan Sundaram was one of 30 artists specially commissioned to make new work to mark the Sharjah Biennial’s 30th-anniversary edition.

Vivan Sundaram has shown his talent in diverse media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation, and video art.
