Vince Dooley, an American college football coach and athletic director (1979 to 2004) at the University of Georgia (UGA) was the father of three adult children Deanna, Daniel, Denise, and Derek.

Derek Dooley, Vince’s son, is a Senior Offensive Analyst at the University of Alabama.
He previously served as the New York Giants tight ends coach and was the head football coach at both the University of Tennessee (from 2010 to 2012) and Louisiana Tech University (from 2007 to 2009).
During his time at Louisiana Tech, Derek also served as athletic director (from 2008 to 2010). He has also worked as an assistant coach for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, as well as the universities of Georgia, Missouri, and LSU.

Vince Dooley had a career record of 201-77-10 while coaching the Bulldogs from 1964 to 1988, a stretch that included six Southeastern Conference titles, 20 bowl games and just one losing season.
He is the fourth-winningest coach in SEC history, trailing only Bear Bryant, Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban.
After retiring from coaching, Dooley continued as the school’s athletic director, a job he held from 1979 until 2004.
Vince Dooley died peacefully at his Athens home in the presence of his wife, Barbara, and their four children on Friday, October 28, 2022.
