On Thursday (May 4, 2023) night, Victor Osimhen helped Napoli clinch the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.

The Nigerian forward scored the equalizer and title-deciding goal in the second half after Napoli fell behind to Sandi Lovric’s opener at halftime.
Osimhen’s title-clinching goal against Udinese was his 22nd goal in 28 league appearances.

The Nigerian striker has had the best season of his career and has been instrumental in Napoli’s historic charge to glory, becoming one of Europe’s most lethal center forwards, clattering in goals left and right.

Aside from the 11,000 Napoli fans inside the stadium and 5,000 more outside, a capacity crowd of more than 50,000 watched the match on jumbo screens at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples.

Napoli’s victory on Thursday ended a 33-year title drought, thanks to Osimhen’s title-winning strike, which propelled the team to glory, which was last achieved in 1990.
Napoli leads second-placed Lazio by 16 points, setting up a month-long parade between now and the end of the season that will allow their long-suffering fans to fully unload more than a generation of frustration.
