Victims of UVA Shooting: Meet Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis and D’Sean Perry

On Sunday evening, Sept. 13, 2022, three members of the University of Virginia football were shot and killed on campus, with two others sustaining injuries in a shooting, which occurred on a bus filled with students returning from a field trip.

Police responded to a report of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. in an area near a parking garage on Culbreth Road and surrounded by academic buildings.

Two of the victims died inside the bus, while the third victim was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The victims who died have been identified as Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis and D’Sean Perry. The trio were all football players in UVA.

Following the demise of the trio, Carla Williams, UVA athletics director, said in a statement that she aches for the parents and family members of the victims.

In an emotional statement, Williams said;

“We lost three talented and bright young men.

“We will never see what their impact on the world would have been, but we will never forget their impact on us. I miss Lavel, D’Sean and Devin.

“I pray for peace, comfort and hope for their parents and loved ones.”
