Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice President and the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), organized an important gathering with representatives from the European Union (EU) along with a few business leaders at the residence of the EU Ambassador in Accra.

The Vice President delineated his perspective on the nation’s forthcoming advancement, emphasizing the significance of updating the taxation framework and drawing inspiration from Estonia’s blockchain approach. He underscored the necessity for improved tax tracking and cross-referencing of data to broaden the pool of taxpayers.
He additionally deliberated on initiatives to invest in public transportation and electric automobiles, including the upcoming trial of 200 Honda electric buses slated to commence in the coming months.

Dr. Bawumia stressed the significance of sustainable small-scale mining practices to curb environmental damage and highlighted the imperative of industrialization to create job opportunities and lure investments.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of technology in restructuring sectors like agriculture and tackling regional security issues. He highlighted Ghana’s dedication to upholding an inclusive democracy amid instability in the surrounding region and called for collaboration with neighboring nations and Europe.
Dr. Bawumia conveyed his willingness to reassess policies, including those concerning local content and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act, to cultivate a more favorable investment atmosphere.
He emphasized the critical nature of predictability in business regulations and put forward proposals for reforms in land title systems and tax exemptions for investors.
