The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 3, marks a significant milestone for the institution and its commitment to providing modern accommodation for its students.

Funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) in collaboration with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Office of the Vice President, the four-storey multi-purpose hostel is set to be completed within 14 months.

The decision to construct the hostel stems from a promise made by Vice President Bawumia to the school two years ago during its 76th congregation.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of providing conducive accommodation for pastor trainees to study and impart moral values to society.

“As an institution that trains and instills Godly values, the construction of this hostel will not only provide the much-needed accommodation for students, it will also serve as a hub for more learning and growth,” stated Vice President Bawumia.

Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu, the Administrator of GETFund, emphasized the importance of innovative financing mechanisms to mobilize additional resources for tertiary education. He encouraged both public and private tertiary institutions to explore such mechanisms to address the challenges in the education sector.

The Director-General of GTEC, Professor Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to expanding access to tertiary education. He emphasized the alignment of their goals with national, continental, and international benchmarks.

The Very Rev. Prof J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, commended Vice President Bawumia, GTEC, and GETFund for their initiative. He expressed confidence that the new facility would not only minimize the housing deficit but also inspire the Seminary to enhance its services.

The construction of the new hostel is expected to address the accommodation needs of students while fostering stronger ties between the Seminary and the Government.
