Vesa-Matti Loiri was a Finnish actor, musician and comedian. He is best known for the portrayal of the role of Uuno Turhapuro in 20 movies between the years 1973 and 2004.
Vesa-Matti “Vesku” Loiri was born on January 4, 1945, in Helsinki, Finland to Taito Loiri and Lily Nylund. He is the father of five children including Joonas L, Jenni Loiri, Ukko Loiri, Jani Loiri, and Sampo Loiri. He was raised alongside a sibling named Pekka Loiri.

Vesa-Matti Loiri started his journey as an actor in 1962 after he bagged the role in the movie Pojat. In 2005, Vesa-Matti Loiri starred in the film Shadow of the Eagle, directed by Timo Koivusalo. Black Nights Film Festival awarded Loiri in Tallinn with A Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
Throughout his career, Vesa-Matti Loiri sold over 730,000 certified records in Finland and is currently the fifth-best-selling soloist and ninth-best-selling artist of all time in the country. He voiced the Genie in the Finnish dub of Disney’s Aladdin and appeared in the premiere of Aulis Sallinen’s opera Kullervo in Los Angeles in 1992.
