Vaughan Johnson was a former Veteran Queensland MP who has been reported dead. According to sources, he died overnight in his sleep. He was a member of the National Party and a member of Parliament for Queensland for 25 years. He was also the minister for transport under premier Rob Borbidge from 1996 to 1998 and the government chief whip under Campbell Newman’s government. He was one of Queensland’s longest-serving MPs who retired from politics in 2015.

“Vaughan always had a colorful turn of phrase like ‘country so good you can plant a feather and grow a chook. They broke the mould after Vaughan and I am very sad to hear of his passing. Rest in peace,” Senator Susan McDonald shared.
“A tough old bugger and a wonderful friend and colleague. May you Rest In Peace. My sincerest condolences to the Johnson family & friends,” Nanago MP Deb Frecklington also said.
“It is with sadness we learn of the passing of Vaughan Johnson OAM. Vaughan served in Queensland Parliament as Member for Gregory from 1989 until his retirement in 2015,” the Liberal National Party also announced.
