Vanja’s early career saw him play for Partizan youth club from 2011 to 2013, when he moved to the senior team, and played for another six seasons.

In 2019, he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings, as 60th overall, in the 2nd round of the NBA draft. In 2022, Vanja was “traded to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a four-team trade.”
In the same year, Vanja joined the Spanish club Valencia Basket after agreeing to a two-year deal. With Valencia, he played for two seasons.
In 2021, Vanja was signed into Baskonia of the Liga ACB.
