Vanessa Mdee is a popular Tanzanian singer, youth activist, television personality and radio host best known for being the first Tanzanian to win the MTV VJ competition.

Hau Vanessa Mdee also referred to as Vee Money, was born on 7th June 1988 in Arusha, Tanzania. The celebrated singer completed her secondary education at Arusha modern high school before pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the Catholic University of East Africa.

Although Vanessa was born in Northern Tanzania, she reportedly spent time in the US and Europe while growing up.

Vanessa debuted into the music industry in late 2012 after releasing her first song ‘Me and You’ later that year featuring Ommy Dimpoz. She, however, gained notoriety in 2013, following the release of her first single ‘Closer’ which remain on the charts for 13 straight weeks and went on to win a total of four prestigious awards that year.

Vanessa Mdee has since been a major gamechanger in the Tanzanian entertainment industry and has received awards for her worthy contribution to the industry.
