Trudy Haynes Bio, Age Died, Funeral

America’s first black TV reporter, Trudy Haynes, was born in New York City on November 23, 1926, to Marjorie and Percy Daniels.

Haynes was the only child of her parents.

Haynes graduated from Forest Hills High School in Queens, Long Island, and while in high school, she the only African-American cheerleader on her school team.

Haynes proceeded to Howard University, to study sociology and psychology, and later graduated in 1947.

Upon graduation, she worked as a weather reporter in WXYZ-TV, in Detroit in 1963, before she moved to KYW-TV (now CBS-3), in Philadelphia, where she worked until she retired in 1999.

Haynes, was an Emmy Award winner, as well as a two-time Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

She was known for her popular on online show tagged the “Trudy Haynes Show”, which opened the eyes of many on pressing issues affecting the African-American community and bordering on health, education, and political issues.

Following her retirement, Haynes still co-hosted Nazca Network’s Good Day, Good Health!, an interactive program that inspires people to live healthier lives.
