Troy Smith, an American former professional football player who played quarterback for the National Football League (NFL), was born on July 20, 1984.

He participated in college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2006 and receiving unanimous All-American accolades.
He played for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks, and the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes before being chosen in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. After an NFL career, he played in the CFL for two seasons until quitting football in 2014.

On December 9th, 2006, Smith was awarded the Heisman Memorial Trophy. He defeated Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn for third place, and Arkansas sophomore running back Darren McFadden for second.
