Train Services Continue Operations Even After Accident

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has assured passengers that train services between Kaduna-Rigasa and Idu Abuja will continue as normal despite a derailment that occurred on Sunday morning.

According to Yakub Mahmood, the NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, the derailment of a coach at Jere station will not disrupt operations.

Mahmood stated that all passengers on board the train from Kaduna-Rigasa to Idu-Abuja arrived safely at their destinations. A team of NRC engineers is currently working to restore the affected areas.

The NRC management apologized for any inconvenience caused to passengers and reassured them of their commitment to ensuring safety and comfort.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has deployed a team to the site of the incident, where an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna derailed halfway into its journey at Jere.

The NSIB’s Director of Consumer Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, confirmed the deployment of a team to the site in a statement on Instagram.
