Tetteh, also known as Joy Mawusi, did not enter a plea and is scheduled to reappear in court on May 14, 2024. Meanwhile, his accomplice, Apreseh Joseph, also known as Dompey, remains at large.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth-Vincent Kpodo, prosecuting the case, informed the court, presided over by Madam Maame Abena Dartey Lartey, that the complainant is an Assemblyman of Nkonya Nstumuru, while the suspect, Tetteh, resides in Alavanvo Wudidi.
According to ASP Kpodo, on August 1, 2022, at approximately 7:00 am, Daniel Yaw Brempong, aged 33 and now deceased, was ambushed, shot, and killed by the suspect and others who are currently fugitives.
The incident occurred as Brempong was on his way to his farm.
ASP Kpodo further stated that the complainant reported the case to the police at Nkonya Ahenkro around 7:30 am on the same day.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police found Brempong lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to the right side of his stomach. The deceased was wearing a black jacket over a khaki trouser at the time.

Following the inspection, Brempong’s body was taken to Kpando Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The post-mortem examination, conducted by a medical doctor from the same hospital, indicated “penetrating chest trauma secondary to possible gunshot injury” as the cause of death.
Investigations revealed that Tetteh Mawusi, Apreseh Joseph, and others from Alavanyo Kpeme and Wudidi had ambushed and fatally shot Brempong on his way to the farm.
A subsequent search of Tetteh’s room led to the discovery of two locally manufactured weapons, which were sent to the Police Forensic Science laboratory for testing.
The laboratory results confirmed that the empty cartridges found at the crime scene matched those discharged by one of the weapons recovered from Tetteh’s room.
Following the investigations and legal consultations, Tetteh Mawusi and Apreseh Joseph were identified as prime suspects and charged with murder.
Other previously arrested suspects were discharged due to insufficient evidence linking them to the crime.
Tetteh Mawusi was arrested on March 22, 2024, at his hideout in Gbefi near Kpand.
